King's School, Ottery St Mary

At a volunteering day with the Poltimore House Trust and the Poltimore Community and Landscape Project, 16 pupils from King’s School helped with garden maintenance, where their main task was cutting back a lot of the new growth on the lime trees that form the avenue, and with a resistivity survey of the lawn area.

The focus for the day was really to help the children understand the benefits of ‘volunteering’ to the individual taking part and to the recipients such as the Poltimore House Trust. Luckily for all concerned, it was hot dry day, the children enjoyed themselves and in the short time that they were at Poltimore House they achieved a lot.
